Mixed bacterial-viral lung infections in patients with cystic fibrosis

چکیده
The main cause of death in patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) is infectious process the lungs, particular, chronic lung infections caused by various pathogens, most often a combination bacteria, fungi, or viruses. Data on mixed bacterial and viral-bacterial from domestic foreign sources are fragmentary sparse. dominant associations viral pathogens have not been studied properly, data their epidemiological significance lacking. aim this study was to assess prevalence substantiate need for development virological monitoring. Methods . Biomaterials respiratory tract CF (409 children 160 adults CF) examined 2006 2022 were used. carried out using bacteriological methods, molecular genetic methods (RT-PCR) MALDI-TOF mass-spectrometry. Results Microflora shown be 2/3 CF. microflora lungs dynamic community microorganisms high diversity variability. In adult patients, more common than children, but composition less diverse. We isolated about 40 species bacteria 85 our sample. NFMO prevailed, including Burkholderia cepacia complex, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Achromobacter xylosoxidans, ruhlandii, Stenotrophomonas maltophilia, Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans, Aspergillus spp Real-time PCR showed presence rhinovirus RNA 10% samples obtained 12.9% fibrosis. Conclusion Our results indicate continuous monitoring CF, testing

Bacterial activity in cystic fibrosis lung infections
BACKGROUND Chronic lung infections are the primary cause of morbidity and mortality in Cystic Fibrosis (CF) patients. Recent molecular biological based studies have identified a surprisingly wide range of hitherto unreported bacterial species in the lungs of CF patients. The aim of this study was to determine whether the species present were active and, as such, worthy of further investigation ...
متن کاملInfections in patients with cystic fibrosis following lung transplantation.
BACKGROUND There is controversy over whether colonization with drug-resistant organisms is a contraindication to lung transplantation. METHODS We undertook a retrospective review of the results of lung transplantation for patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) at Duke University Medical Center. RESULTS As of May 1996, 21 patients with CF underwent bilateral lung transplantation. The first patie...
متن کاملLung infections associated with cystic fibrosis.
While originally characterized as a collection of related syndromes, cystic fibrosis (CF) is now recognized as a single disease whose diverse symptoms stem from the wide tissue distribution of the gene product that is defective in CF, the ion channel and regulator, cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR). Defective CFTR protein impacts the function of the pancreas and alters ...
متن کاملViral Respiratory Tract Infections in Cystic Fibrosis
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is the most commonly inherited potentially lethal disease amongst Caucasian children and young adults. In Europe, approximately 35,000 children and adults are affected by CF. The prevalence in the US and in Canada is approximately 30,000 and 3,000, respectively. CF is an autosomal recessive disorder and is caused by mutations in the Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance...
متن کاملOutcome of Cystic Fibrosis in Patients with Bronchiectasis
Introduction: Bronchiectasis is a common problem in children especially under 5 years. Early diagnosis of disease and its causes could be useful in early treatment and preventing probable complications. This study aimed at evaluating the cystic fibrosis (CF) in patients with bronchiectasis. Methods: In a cross-sectional study, 374 children with bronchiectasis were studied. The diagnosis was ma...
